We have the next training weekend set for May 17th, 18th and 19th at Fort Hutchinson located in Cumberland VA.

The weekend is Catch and Preserve. So dust off your fishing poles and get your fishing license. If you never been fishing its a good weekend to learn and will have members there to help you in the art of fishing. We are camping at Fort Hutchinson, we will be going to Bear Creek State Park for fishing.

Cost is $5.00 for passengers car under 9 people, if large capacity vehicle is $15.00 that’s for 9 to 15 passengers to get in the park to use the lake. This is a VAOK Member only event. VAOK Members can bring guest.

You will learn the art of fishing and how to clean your fish. Also, how to filet your fish and finally cook your fish. We will also have alternative cooking methods for in the field. We will have a smoker set up so you can learn how to use it and smoke your own fish if you catch any. We have Scott McKay teaching how to make fish traps and snares on Sunday. Everything taught will be hands on.

You can go on line to get your state fishing license from Virginia Inland Game and Fisheries website. or Wal-Mart or any outdoor store like bass pro shop, green top for example.

Make sure you get a fresh water license.
