Class02

On Monday, July 6, 2015 and Tuesday July 7, Virginia Oath Keepers and the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association hosted two Constitution Classes for the deputies of Greene County, Virginia. These classes were well attended; every deputy in the county attended the training. I started the classes by teaching the foundations of Constitutional thought, a brief history of the document, highlighting the ideas of natural law, organic law and methods of Constitutional understanding. We then covered the protections of citizens and restrictions on national government as outlined in the supreme law of the land.

Class01 (Mike Koeniger's conflicted copy 2015-07-10)

Sheriff Mack covered how the Constitution applies to deputies and peace officers. He encouraged the men and women who gave their oath to place themselves between the citizens of their county and the tyrants and criminals who would steal their freedom. He covered how an oath keeping peace officer would have handled the Rosa Parks incident on December 1, 1955. More importantly Sheriff Mack reminded all of the peace officers in the room that no one can make them violate their oath, that like David, they must defend their communities from the Goliaths of the world. Sheriff Mack also explained how he fought the Brady Bill, taking his case all the way to the Supreme Court.

After a fantastic morning in the classroom, Sheriff Mack, Greene County Sheriff Steve Smith, and I appeared on the Rob Schilling Show on WINA 1070 in Charlottesville (check the media section for a recording). I have to say it was an amazing opportunity to spread the message of freedom.

I have reflected on this week and I have to say it is inspiring to meet local leaders like Sheriff Steve Smith, to be able to pick the brain of Sheriff Richard Mack, and to interact with the good people of the greater Charlottesville area. Liberty and the Constitution are alive and well in many areas of Virginia and it is refreshing to be among people who love the Constitution as much as I do.
