For those of you that attended the Summer 2015 Virginia Field Training Exercise, Operation “Send Me” in Cumberland, VA this past weekend, I want to say it was an honor to have met and trained with you.

Diner, Cumberland VirginiaI was slightly concerned that the weekend would consist of a few yahoos showing off their personal weapons of mass destruction, but our host (who I won’t name because he has friends in low places) made it clear from the beginning that such a display would not be tolerated and to do so would bring down the wrath of said host (did I mention he has friends in low places). After meeting the rest of the Oath Keeper attendees I realized there was never a need for my concern as I realized Oath Keepers members are highly motivated like minded none average Joe individuals and I am proud to be a member of the Oath Keeper organization.

The saying is “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks” but I personally learned many new tactics and medical techniques that have been developed or improved in the 20 years since I left military service.

Training provided was as follows:

  • Module 1 medical training
  • Module 2 land nav part 1
  • Module 3 techniques, tactics, procedures
  • Module 4 land nav part 2/medical part 2 Module 5 medical review, Intel, close quarters self defense instruction
  • Module 6 individual & team techniques, tactics and Procedures
  • Module 7 team techniques, tactics and procedures

The professionalism of the trainers and leadership was of the highest standard, their concern for the safety of all attending and the level of detail in training was paramount.  I was pleased to see some members had brought their spouses and children for some of the training classes’, seeing that makes me feel there is some hope for future generations.

I look forward to future training events and encourage all members to attend and then return to your individual chapters with CPT skills to train future chapter members.
